Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company celebrates National
Dairy Month by doubling its performances in June. The troupe performs
every weekend at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street,
and this month, in addition to the regularly scheduled shows at
11p.m. on Friday and Saturday, performances will be offered 9
p.m. Admission is $10 per person, with no age restriction and
no drink minimum.
In honor of Mimai Lakes' long-time cow connection, Laughing Gas
presents a series of shows designed to milk every ounce of comedy
out of National Dairy Month.
"A month-long celebration of milk products, it's a natural
for comedy," said director Gerald Owens. "It does a
comedic body good."
June 2 and 3, "Double Government Cheese" offers state-sanctioned
humor at the expense of the political elite, with no parties spared.
June 9 and 10, "Holy Cows" looks at cults, false messiahs
and posers who profess to have direct cell phone connections to
God.
June 16 and 17, "Make My Milk a Double" rejuvenates
the audience with the full recommended daily allowance of laughter
to help builde strong funny bones.
June 23 and 24, "Double Meat Sandwich" features cutting-edge
comedy honed to slice directly into the meat of the matter.
Shows run about 90 minutes, and each performance reflects the
news and events of the week, with titles and content always subject
to change. The topics include politics, popular culture, family
values, social issues and more in a series of improvised sketches
and musical numbers.
