Laughing Gas Nominated for Four "Improv
Miami Prizes" - Awards for Excellence
The Laughing
Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company, South Florida's
Longest Running Professional Improv Theatre Company, is proud
to announce receiving 4 nominations for The Improv Miami Prizes
2004, or "Impys". Laughing Gas was nominated in "Best
Short Form", "Best Long Form", "Best Extreme", and "Best Sketch".
The Impys are dedicated to the promotion of the improvisational
art form and to recognize excellence both on and off stage. The
event, to be held in December, will include almost all of the
troupes in South Florida for an evening that will raise the standards
of improv and have the audiences roaring with laughter as only
an improvised award show could.
"We are proud to be recognized for our shows," said Gerald Owens,
the Director of Laughing Gas. "We have built a reputation for
excellence over the last 12 years and our nominations confirm
something we've known for some time, that we're funny and our
audiences like us."
"We
look forward to the event," Owens continued, "and hope that the
event will raise awareness of the artform in South Florida. That,
plus it should be a lot of fun."
Over the past several months, Laughing Gas has performed shows
to "Improv The Vote", lampooned pop-culture in
the "eMTeeVee Video Music A-Weirds" and the upcoming
"We Crashed the Auto Show" and performed in benefits
raising money for charities. Already having been picked a Social
Miami "Pick of the Week" several times for their
themed shows and regularly being recognized for relevant material,
Laughing Gas should be a strong contender at the Impys.
Details about the nominations are available on the improvmiami.com
website at: http://www.improvmiami.com/2004nominees.htm
Details about the venue and show time will be presented as they
become available.
