Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Sets November Main St. Shows
Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company, which performs every
weekend in Miami Lakes, has received four "Impy" nominations
from the Improv Miami Prizes 2004.
It is the first year for the awards program, which promotes improvisational
art and recognizes excellence both on and off stage.
Laughing Gas is nominated for Best Short-Form, Best Long-Form,
Best Extreme and Best Sketch. Winners will be announced during
an awards program on Saturday, December 4.
"We are proud to be recognized for our shows," said
Gerald Owens, director of Laughing Gas. "We have built a
reputation for excellence over the last 12 years and our nominations
confirm something we've known for some time, that we're funny
and our audiences like us."
November performances
The Laughing Gas troupe continues to entertain audiences every
Friday at 11pm at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street
in Miami Lakes. Admission is $12, and there is no age minimum
and no drink minimum.
Shows run about 90 minutes, and each performance reflects the
news and events of the week, with titles and content always subject
to change. The topics include politics, popular culture, family
values, social issues and more in a series of improvised sketches
and musical numbers.
Special themes in November include "I Crashed The Auto Show...or
We Don't Drive Stick" on November 5, (receive two-for-one-tickets
with Auto Show exhibitor's badge), and "I Flunked Out of
the Electoral College...or Who's Your Baghdaddy" on November
19 (receive two-for-one tickets with proof of voting in the 2004
Presidential election).
The November 12 and 26 shows will take on a variety of timely
subjects.
