Laughing Gas Comedy Improv opens new season on January 7
Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company opens the new year
with two shows per weekend in Miami Lakes.
During January, the troupe will present shows at 11pm on Friday
and Saturday, at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street in
Miami Lakes. Admission has been reduced to $10 per person, and
there is no age minimum and no drink minimum.
"We're happy to call Miami Lakes home," said Gerald
Owens, director of Laughing Gas. "It's a wonderful community
and we've found that the people here really appreciate a good
laugh."
Shows run about 90 minutes, and each performance reflacts the
news and events of the week, with titles and content always subject
to change. The topics include politics, popular culture, family
values, social issues and more in a series of improvised sketches
and musical numbers.
The weekend of January 14 and 15, the troupe presents, "Hey,
nice Golden Globes...or I bought this on eBay," and lampoons
the pomp and pageantry of the Golden Globe awards in sketches
and songs.
This is the 13th season for Laughing Gas, which recently received
an Impy award for best Short-Form Improv Troupe at the 2004 Improv
Miami Prizes.
