Laughing Gas Improv lampoons March Madness in Main Street
Laughing Gas, South Florida's longest running improv troupe is presenting special shows on "March Madness 2005" lampooning the upcoming NCAA tournament.

The theatre company continues its tradition of socially relevant comedy with a send-up of the college hoops spectacular and other events on Friday and Saturday nights, March 18-19 and March 25-26 at 11 p.m. at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street.

"March Madness 2005" is 90 minutes of fast-paced comedy set to beat the clock and take a few free throws at the expense of NCAA basketball.

Laughing Gas welcomes all University of Miami Hurricane basketball players, the Hurricane cheerleaders and the Hurricanettes Dance Team for free for these special shows.

"We hope they'll have something better to do those nights," said cast member Todd Rice. "But if they won't be playing in the tournament, there's nothing more likely to cheer them up than our shows."

Audience members will be allowed to submit their predictions for the Final Four for a chance to win two free tickets to a future Laughing Gas performance.

"We all enjoy the tournament," said Laughing Gas director Gerald Owens, "but there's also humor in the fact that the entire nation screeches to a halt when everyone watches a bouncing orange ball."

Over the past several months, Laughing Gas has performed shows to "Improv The Vote," lampooned pop-culture and helped with their "Improv-ing The Community" campaign raising money for charities.

Admission is $10 for the Main Street shows. For reservations call 305-461-1161, or visit the web site at www.laughinggasimprov.com.
