Laughing Gas Remembers With "Star
Wreck: Another Failed Enterprise"
The Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre
Company is helping the geeks get together for a
90-minute improvised United Federation of Laughter at 11pm
on Saturday the 14th of May at the Main Street Playhouse (6766
Main Street, Miami Lakes) that will take humor to the Next
Generation. In memoriam of the last episode of Star
Trek: Enterprise, which airs the night before on UPN,
Laughing Gas will present a special show celebrating the Sci-Fi
culture in a satirical look at all things Star Trek
in "Star Wreck: Another Failed Enterprise".
The night will include
a live presentation of an episode of "Star
Wreck", an improvised science fiction series that
could only be performed by South Florida's longest-running improv
troupe.
"We are all huge fans of all of the series and hate to see
Enterprise leave the air," said Laughing Gas
director Gerald Owens. "But since it is going, we're going
to give it a send off in our own unique style."
"I'm a Trekkie from way back," says Laughing Gas cast
member Todd Rice. "So far back that it was before people
preferred the term Trekker. Trekker, Trekkie, no wonder they called
the whole thing off."
"I'm really excited to do a show about Star Trek,"
says cast member Valerie Zach. "I love learning about other
cultures, plus Nerds are my favorite candy."
Audience
members are invited to bring Science Fiction memorabilia and other
items that will be borrowed by the performers and used during
their performance.
While the theme for some pieces in the show is science fiction,
the show is definitely geared towards all audiences. Previous
shows were enjoyed by everyone in the audience even though specific
themes have been lampooned including The
Academy Awards, Valentine's Day,
The MTV Video Music Awards, The
Auto Show, The Presidential Election
and even Friday the 13th the night before
this performance.
Laughing Gas is currently in their 13th Season and is well-known
for providing some of the highest-quality entertainment available
in South Florida. "Providing themes for our shows give us
targets, but our show is completely improvised, so they are always
based on the news of the day," Gerald Owens. "Anyone
will enjoy the show, and we'll enjoy having them there."
