Gas Comedy Improv sets variety of Main Street shows in May
The Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company is continuing to
present two shows per weekend in Miami Lakes.
During May, the troupe performs at 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays
at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street. Admission is $10
per person, and there is no age restriction and no drink minimum.
The May 6 and 7 performances celebrate Mother's Day weekend with
"Yo' Mama." For these performances any mother will be
admitted free when accompanying a paying patron.
On Friday, May 13, the troupe presents "Get Lucky on Friday
the 13th." For this performance designed to destroy the mystique
around tridecaphobia (fear of the number 13), audience members
are invited to bring lucky and unlucky objects to be used on stage.
"We're
in our 13th season of entertaining audiences in South Florida
and are having a great year," said Gerald Owens, Laughing
Gas director. "We're going to prove once and for all that
people can get lucky on Friday the 13th as well."
Saturday, May 14, the show commemorates the final episode of the
series Star Trek: Enterprise with a show titled
"Star Wreck, Episode 1: Another Failed Enterprise."
Shows run about 90 minutes and each performance reflects the news
and events of the week, with titles and content always subject
to change. The topics include politics, popular culture, family
values, social issues and more in a series of improvised sketches
and musical numbers.
