Laughing Gas Press Release 8/22/2004

Laughing Gas to Participate in the Third Annual South Florida Improv Jam - "Improv-ing the community" on September 18th 8/23/04

The Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company will join with other improv troupes from throughout South Florida to raise money and awareness for the Chris Farley Foundation, which fights against substance abuse. Laughing Gas is South Florida's longest-running improv troupe and is working hard to help in improv-ing the community having run a separate benefit for His House and holding the "eMTeeVee Video Music A-Weirds" this upcoming weekend (August 27th-28th) lampooning the MTV elite. Now Laughing Gas joins with the other premier troupes in South Florida in a "Jam" on September 18th that promises to be an exciting evening for participants and audience members alike.

Third Annual South Florida Improv Jam

The Third Annual South Florida Improv Jam will be held at 8pm on Saturday, September 18th, 2004 at the Roxy Performing Arts Center.

While last years' event raised over $1,000 to benefit Gilda's Club of South Florida (for more information on last years "Jam", click here), this years' event brings you something truly special.

Laughing Gas joins with South Florida's other top improv troupes in this event, organized by Impromedy to help the Chris Farley Foundation.

The Chris Farley Foundation is dedicated to the prevention of substance abuse. It focuses on communicating the consequences of drugs and alcohol abuse to kids, teens, and young adults.

Using Chris' humor as inspiration, it creates communications that enable our audiences to develop personal skills to respond positively to pressures that impact choices regarding substance abuse.

"We are proud to be a part of this event and are pleased that Impromedy organized this event to support the Chris Farley Foundation" said Laughing Gas cast member Todd Rice. "We hope that through laughter we can help spread their message."

If you can not attend but are interested in making a donation to the Chris Farley Foundation, you can do so at their donation page.

The powerhouses of improv comedy in South Florida are uniting in the most unique event of the year as members mix together to form a truly unique experience working under directors from each troupe to give audiences a totally new and exciting experience in improvisational never before seen in South Florida. This one time only event is something no one will want to miss and everyone will be talking about for years to come!!!

The show starts at 8pm on Saturday on September 18th and will feature all the participating groups for only $12, which goes to the Chris Farley Foundation.

A full list of the participating troupes and updated information is available on the Improv Miami website.

The show is at the Roxy Performing Arts Center located at 1645 SW 107th Avenue in Miami (click here for a MapQuest Map). Call 305-226-0030 for reservations.
