Todd Rice, a cast member of the Laughing Gas improv comedy troupe, is also known as some of the characters he plays -- like the Rev. Billy Ray Tallywhacker or Charles P. Diddywitz III. To do improv well, Rice says, "You recognize elements in yourself that are odd and push them. You combine your odd ideas with [your fellow cast members'] odd ideas and come up with something totally unexpected. It's like lightning in a bottle." Tonight, Laughing Gas performs pro bono to benefit Gilda's Club, a cancer-fighting organization. Tickets to "Improv at the Improv" cost $10. The show starts at 8 p.m. at the Hollywood Improv (5700 Seminole Way, Hollywood). Call 954-981-5653, or visit www.improvftl.com.
