Laughing Gas Improv spoofs MTV Video Music Awards in Main St.
shows Aug. 26-27
Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company lampoons issues and
events in the news every Friday and Saturday at 11pm in the Main
Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street. Admission is $10 per person,
with no age restriction and no drink minimum.
Shows run about 90 minutes, and each performance reflects the
news and events of the week, with titles and content always subject
to change. The topics include politics, popular culture, family
values, social issues and more in a series of improvised sketches
and musical numbers.
On Friday and Saturday, August 26 and 27, the troupe spoofs the
MTV Video Music Awards in shows titled "Second Annual eMTeeVee
Music A-Weirds." The evening includes sketches, entertainment
news spoofs and celebrity impersonations.
"We're not saying we don't appreciate them holding their
event in Miami," said Gerald Owens, director of Laughing
Gas. "Mockery is one of the most sincere forms of flattery.
We're planning on flattering them a lot. A whole lot."
