'Academy Aweirds' show highlights Laughing Gas Comedy Improv's
March Schedule
Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company performs every weekend
at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street. Shows are at 11p.m.
on Friday and Saturday and admission is $10 per person, with no
age restriction and no drink minimum.
The second annual Academy Aweirds show is scheduled for
Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4.
According to troupe members, the socially relevant comedy pokes
fun at celebrity culture, E! Entertainment news, current films,
Jon Stewart and the Hollywood love-fest known as the Academy Awards.
"We're continuing in our 14th season of humor at the expense
of popular culture," said Gerald Owens, Laughing Gas director.
For these special shows, anyone whose name is Oscar will be admitted
free, with proper ID.
Shows run about 90 minutes, and each performance reflects the
news and events of the week, with titles and content always subject
to change. The topics include politics, popular culture, family
values, social issues and more in a series of improvised sketches
and musical numbers.
